Difficult to answer really. The major difference is that the North is not as well developed as the South, but the advantage is that it is quieter and less crowded. If you've read my reviews, you'll know that I was disappointed by the archaeological sites in the north. There are many similarities in the cuisine. Having been to Turkey many times, I can say that the Muslims generally are more liberal here than in Turkey - they are not as strictly Muslim as other area Islamic countries. I enjoyed both the North and South, the people are equally welcoming in both communities. I hope that helps.

There is plenty of shops on the main streets leading to the harbour also a pedestrian area just of the main street that has some fabulous menswear and the ladies clothes shop just next door.the y are mother and son who run the Two shops and are really lovely people who we have made good friends with..also next to them is a brilliant handbag shop..I can shop till I drop in these shops and such fantastic prices..Can't wait to be back in Kyreniairs fabulous.
Going to Nicosia in November 4-19 will the harbour side restaurants and cafes be open still where we can enjoy them? Will cyprus restaurants ok ledras and pafos as well as kyrenia harbour still be open like in May? My husband and I were here in May 2018 and enjoyed the harbour restaurants outside and relaxing atmosphere.
