Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams left the International Space Station after nine months in space, checking out with two other astronauts.

NASA removed two astronauts from its Crew-9 mission to allow for Williams and Wilmore to join the cohort, and return onboard the SpaceX Dragon − which carries four people at a time. The altered Crew-9 − only Hague and Gorbunov − launched aboard the SpaceX Dragon Freedom in late September.

The trio will be traveling together with NASA’s Crew-9 Commander, Nick Hague, who arrived with Crew-10. Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore’s overstay at the space station has become quite contentious with political drama involving Donald Trump and his billionaire buddy Elon Musk, who also leads the private aerospace firm SpaceX.
