Damage from an EF-1 tornado forced more than 350 people from their homes near Downtown Irving. The storm blew out windows in an apartment building, knocked down power lines and blew over brick siding in the area of West Pioneer Drive and North O'Connor Road.

Strong winds blew through North Texas Tuesday morning, bringing hurricane-force gusts that left 18-wheelers tipped over, roofs damaged and thousands without power. Severe storms in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex brought rapid gusts to the region.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area was hit with severe storms Tuesday that spawned an EF-1 tornado in Irving and, meteorologists confirmed Wednesday another EF-1 tornado and wind damage in Wise County. Residents in Irving — where the weather service confirmed a tornado touched down on Pioneer Drive between North MacArthur and North O’Connor boulevards — reported the wind shaking their homes.
