After the 2004-2005 NHL lockout he reemerged in the league with the Columbus Blue Jackets and was named team captain in 2005. He made a non-medaling appearance at the 2006 Winter Olympics, skating in six matches, and by the end of the 2007-2008 season was once again a member of the Colorado Avalanche.
