The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works for better lives through livestock in developing countries. ILRI is co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, has 14 offices across Asia and Africa, employs some 700 staff and has an annual operating budget of about USD 80 million.

The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), a center within CGIAR.Since 1999, ILRI has been an important partner in Vietnam’s livestock sector, conducting research projects in the field of food safety, animal health, climate change, and sustainable livestock production.

This unique book documents 45 years of impacts of livestock research in regions of the developing world, particularly in Africa and Asia. ILRI’s broad portfolio of research for livestock development covers livestock health, feed, genetics, trade, marketing and consumption, the gender aspects of livestock systems, and the impacts of livestock on the natural resource base.

The ILRI Research Methods Group provides CGIAR Research Program and project level support covering all aspects of research methods (design of surveys, experiments and research activities related to impact assessment and monitoring and evaluation, research computing – systems and data management, statistical and geographical information systems analysis).
