2015年1月13日 · This Guidebook provides examples and recommendations for the steps to take when designing an ambulance patient compartment and best practices that can help reduce EMSP and patient injuries. This document will also help streamline the compartment layout and make it more conducive to providing patient care.

Different design concepts and layout configurations can be modeled using computer-aided-design. A number of factors such as EMT activities, EMT statures, seats, restraint systems, cabinets, and placement of items will be varied to determine configurations that would better meet safety and performance requirements.

New designs for patient compartments are needed that balance the safety and mobility needs of EMTs. We used an online survey to solicit design needs that will be verified by practitioners and manufacturers and used to determine design requirements and design concepts.
